Islamabad: President Arif Alawi has authorized holding common elections for the Legislative Assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to Express News, President Dr. Arif Alvi has authorized holding common elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly. The President has authorized the abstract despatched by the Prime Minister, after which the final elections in Gilgit-Baltistan will now be held on Sunday, November 15.

The Assembly was dissolved after 5 years of PML-N rule in Gilgit-Baltistan, and the Election Commission issued an election schedule on July 2, setting August 18 as polling day. However, a petition was filed within the court docket in opposition to the election schedule by the PML-N member, and the Election Commission had issued a notification on July 2 to droop the election schedule.
